It’s time for this week’s High Notes, including some good links, a recap of blog posts, and a list of stuff I’m loving right now!
The Biggest Hindrance to Creativity Isn’t Time by Heather Caliri for The Mudroom
“. . .the biggest hurdle to creative work is never time. Never. The biggest hurdle to creativity is thinking you’re a piece of $h*t.”
Why We Need to Stop Trying So Hard by Ruth Soukup at A Holy Experience
“There is no neat bow, no happy ending to this story.
It’s still messy and ugly and hard.
But in the midst of this struggle, I have never been more acutely aware of my own need for grace, nor more comforted by the realization that God uses our imperfection to do His best work.”
What the accuser would have you believe. . . and why you MUSTN’T listen to him. . .
In which I delved into time-tracking and shared my results. . .
Yeah, um. . . this one’s a little embarrassing. But it needed to be said. . .
What I’m Loving This Week:
1. The BeFit YouTube channel
So I discovered this channel (it’s free!) on YouTube and since I knew I needed to start exercising again, I looked for workouts that would ease me back into a routine. I found the 30 Day Fat Burn workouts fit the bill perfectly, since they are just 10 minutes long. I can squeeze them in during my morning time and then hop in the shower.
Although, I can’t exactly hop. Because, man am I sore.
2. Iced Tea
Ok, this is a no-brainer for me. I live in Texas. We drink iced tea all year long. But we’ve gotten out of the habit of making it at home, and when we did, it didn’t taste right. After a little googling, I stumbled on the Hillbilly Housewife’s method for making iced tea and followed her directions to the ‘T’ (pun intended).
The tea is perfect, and I’m a happy momma.
I needed a new case for my phone, and after reading Emily’s suggestions over at Jones Design Company, I got online and ordered one. It’s perfect, it holds my license, my most used credit cards, and a little cash. . . as well as my phone. And I liked that it has a wrist strap.
This Week’s Lyrics for Life:
Restless by Audrey Assad
Oh, speak now for my soul is listening
Say that You have saved me, whisper in the dark.
‘Cause I know You’re more than my salvation
Without you I am hopeless, tell me who You are
You are the keeper of my heart.
And I’m restless, I’m restless
‘Til I rest in You, ’til I rest in You
I am restless, I’m restless
‘Til I rest in You, ’til I rest in You, oh God.
My prayer for you, dear reader, is that your restless heart will find rest in Him.
Much love always,
