Why Are Religious Children Mean? by Cindy Brandt
Speaking of Cindy Brandt, she’s got a brand spanking new Facebook group called Raising Children UnFundamentalist. She describes the group this way:
This is a group for Christian parents who are committed to raising their kids in a faith that isn’t hierarchical, controlling and fundamentalist. We are parents who want to see our children desire mercy and not sacrifice, to grow up walking in the ways of Jesus for peace, righteousness, and wholeness. We share articles, resources, and personal reflections of our own parenting journey here.”

On the Menu:
Football season is officially over, at least for the JV team here, so Thursday night we got to stay in! The weather finally cooled down some, and I tried out this recipe for Lasagna Soup. It was heavenly, let me tell you. We enjoyed it with some garlic bread and afterwards sat down to watch the latest episode of The Goldbergs. Perfect family night in!
What I’m Loving This Week:
Speaking of menus and food and Thanksgiving being just around the corner, I’m giving a shout out to one of my favorite resources ever: Plan to Eat.
I’ve been using this online recipe storage system/menu planner/shopping list for four years now and it makes life so much easier. Once you enter in your recipes, all you do is drag and drop them into the calendar, and Plan to Eat automatically generates a grocery list for you. Then you can open up your list on your mobile device once you get to the store, and simply check things off as you shop. The lists are customizable, so you can arrange them in the order of the aisles in your favorite store (a MUST for me!).
I seriously don’t know how I lived without Plan to Eat.
It’s especially helpful if you use lots of recipes you find on the internet.
Normally, the cost is $39/year, but they are having a 50% off Black Friday sale November 27th-30th, so you can get a full year for $19.50. What’s more, you can buy up to four gift subscriptions for only $15.50 each.
These make FANTASTIC holiday gifts!
If you want to try it out before you buy, they have a 30-day free trial period. Test it out and see what you think!

This Week’s Lyrics for Life:
I’m not usually one to rush into the Christmas season, but in light of recent world events, these were the lyrics that came to mind:
From “O Holy Night” by Adolphe Adam
Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
From “Welcome to Our World” by Chris Rice
Bring your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
Word now breaking Heaven’s silence
Welcome to our world
From “Ee’n so Lord Jesus Quickly Come” by Paul Manz
E’en so Lord Jesus quickly come
And night shall be no more
