I’m going out on a limb and starting a new series here. I plan (fingers crossed) to publish these posts every Sunday, since my stats tell me it’s the most popular reading day for this little ol’ blog. These’ll be short and sweet and feature highlights from the previous week.
I hope you enjoy!
This Week’s High Notes
On the Agenda:
- For those who don’t already know, I play piano. A lot. In the last two weeks, I’ve performed in five choir concerts, then spent all day Saturday accompanying middle school soloists. People sometimes ask me if my fingers get tired. The answer is an emphatic no. My fingers never get tired. My back always does.
- It’s been a rough week for my Asperger’s kid. I pulled out a bunch of my books to reread and put some others on hold at the library. I desperately need help in knowing how to parent a pre-teen with autism. Anybody have words of wisdom to share?
What I Wore:
I don’t usually post about fashion because I wouldn’t have a clue what to wear if Schaeffer didn’t tell me. I rely heavily on fashion blogs to keep me from looking like a total dork. It’s a tough part of the year here in north Texas, because it’s fall but the weather is still warm. It’s important to have transitional clothes that look “in season” but don’t make me spontaneously combust. This was one outfit I chose this week that fit the bill.
I also broke out these Wit & Wisdom jeans for the first time this season. I refer to these as “skinny jeans for old people.” They are one of the most comfortable clothing items I own. They look like jeans but they feel more like yoga pants. They are a little pricy, but totally worth it in the long run.
My cognac flats are cheapies from Walmart. They’re surprisingly comfy, though.
And then there’s this cute little chevron necklace. Mine is kinda tangled in the photos, hence the closeup from the Nordstrom website.
A side note on Nordstrom: I always thought it was a store for rich people so I never shopped there. Then I realized they have great sales, and totally free shipping and returns. You don’t even have to go to the store!! You just order stuff and if it doesn’t fit, send it right back. Easy peasy and a great option for introverts (like me!)
On the menu:
Pioneer Woman’s Roasted Red Pepper Pasta. ‘Nuff said.
On the blog this week:
This made me laugh:
This week’s Lyrics for Life:
(In other words, music that spoke to my heart)
“Redeemed” by Big Daddy Weave
Seems like all I could see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me “son
Stop fighting a fight it’s already been won”
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I’m not who I used to be
I am redeemed.

This week’s big question:
Every week I’ll turn it over to you and ask a question. I’d love to hear your feedback here, so please give me your best answer in the comment section! I’m hoping this will help me write content that is more meaningful and interesting to YOU! So please don’t leave me hanging!
This week’s question is: What do you struggle with and why?
